Death
Rev. Harold Stonewall Mace, 87, a retired minister of First
Presbytery, passed away Tuesday, May 26 around 1 p.m. in a Gastonia hospital.
Funeral services will be held today, May 29, at 11 a.m., at the Linden ARP Church, 205 S. Myrtle School Road, Gastonia, NC.
A native of Lincoln County, Mr. Mace was ordained in 1954 as pastor of the
York, SC, Church. He also served the Arsenal Hill Church, Columbia, SC,
and the Greenwood (SC) Church. He became executive director of
Bonclarken Conference Center in 1968, and served there until 1981. He
then was called to the Linden Church in Gastonia, and served there until
he retired in 1986.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Vashti Mace, whom he married in
1943, and two daughters.

Rev. Ken McArthur of Shepherd Road ARP Church, Lakeland, FL, mentioned in last week’s ARP News Update, is now having dialysis three times a week. He is very weak. Please continue to pray for Rev. McArthur and his wife, Nancy.

Richards Resigns
July 12 will be Jeff Richards’ last Sunday as supply pastor of New Covenant ARP Church in Charlotte, NC. He was called to serve as supply pastor at New Covenant December, 1998. Dr. Richards resigned effective May 16, 2009. In a letter to the Elder Board he wrote, “We have mixed emotions about the decision. We are very sad to leave our friends here, but we are excited about the Lord’s leading.”
Celebrating 100 Years

Lucas Called to Reformation Church
Columbia First – A congregational meeting will be held Sunday, May 31, for the purpose of asking the congregation to concur with the request of Rev. Matt Lucas to dissolve the pastoral relationship between himself and First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Lucas has accepted a call as the senior minister of Reformation Presbyterian Church (ARP) in Hendersonville NC.
