Death: Bea Allan-Smith
Bertha “Bea” Allan-Smith, 97, widow of former ARP minister, Arthur Murray Allan, passed away at a retirement community in England on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013.
A native of England, Bea married Arthur in 1939. Mr. Allan served a number of Anglican churches in England, Canada, and the United States before joining with the ARP Church in 1972, when he became the minister of the Wrens and Ebenezer congregations in Georgia. Following Arthur’s death in 1981, Bea maintained her ties to the ARP Church.
After living in Florida for a number of years, she moved to Due West Retirement Center in Due West, SC, where she was active in the Residents Council, Due West Lions Club, and Due West ARP Church.
Longing for her homeland, after over 40 years in North America, Bea moved to a retirement community near London, England. Bea had a joyful faith. Staff members at her retirement community report that on the last day of her earthly life, “…she was sitting in the lounge area saying that all she wanted was to be with her Lord…”.
Bea is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Chris Allan, of Farnborough, Hampshire, England; a granddaughter, and a great-granddaughter.
