CLOVER, S.C. – Rev. Gilbert Hitchcock Rowell, 60, of 126 Jamestowne Circle, died March 31, 2012, at Piedmont Medical Center, Rock Hill, SC.

The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Clover Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church with Rev. Evan English and Dr. Barry Eller officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Rev. Rowell was born April 15, 1951 in Louisville, Ga., to Kathryn Hitchcock Rowell and the late Charles Walter Rowell III.

He was a graduate of Louisville Academy, Erskine College and Erskine Seminary. He had served as pastor in Brighton, TN, Lancaster, SC, and was the pastor of Providence Presbyterian Church (Associate Reformed Presbyterian), Gastonia.  Rev. Rowell also served on the board of World Witness and various committees of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Synod.

Survivors are his wife Robin Dickson Rowell of Clover, SC; daughters Ruth Rowell of Clover, SC and Rebekah R. Reynolds (Cameron) of Rock Hill, SC; mother Kathryn H. Rowell of Due West, SC; brother Charles W. Rowell, IV (Martha) of Augusta, GA; sister Kathryn R. Gordy (Johnny) of Louisville, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
