LEITH, SCOTLAND – Grace Church will hold its first public worship service Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, at 4 p.m. British Time. When those of us on the east coast go to worship at 11 a.m., Grace Church in Leith, Scotland will be going to worship at exactly the same hour – given the time difference.

ARP ministers are asked to please allow time in their worship service to pray for Athole Rennie and Grace Church – that God would be honored in their worship service, that Christ would be made known, and that the Holy Spirit would be active in the lives of all who are there – especially in the lives of a number of non-believers who have committed to come.

Rev. Rennie asks that we pray more specifically for the following on launch day:
– Pray for practicalities of the day, that all would run smoothly.
– Pray for those carrying out various roles on the day – sound and visual, welcoming, crèche, tea and coffee, music, set-up, take-down.
– Pray for Rev. Rennie as he prepares his sermon in the coming week.
– Pray for newcomers, that they would feel welcomed.
– Pray for non-Christians, that what they hear would make sense.
– Pray for the weeks following the launch, that The Rennies would remain encouraged whatever happens!
– Pray that God would be glorified in all that goes on at the “launch” service.
Community Groups
– Pray for the first community group that starts on Sept. 7.
– Pray that those who get involved would come to know Jesus, if they don’t already, and grow in their relationship with Jesus if they do.
– Pray that community groups would be a great way of building up the church.
– Pray that community groups would be a welcoming environment for any newcomer.
– Pray that the Bible studies would be engaging and relevant and would equip people to live for Christ.
– Pray that the church would be committed to praying together, relying on God in all things.
In General
– Pray for unity around the gospel.
– Pray that the church would not lose sight of Christ, but would be faithful to him in everything they do.
– Pray for humility among the leadership and all those involved in the church.
– Pray for the non-Christian contacts, that they would increasingly see the gospel lived out in our community and be pointed to Jesus.
– Pray for the church’s witness in the wider community, that they would be a blessing to Leith and Edinburgh.
